Redwood Celebrates America 250 Through Service, Community and Reflection

As we approach the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, individuals and organizations are finding ways to honor the historic milestone. Redwood’s approach to celebrating is focused on key themes of opportunity, service and community that defined our nation throughout the generations.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors
America250, the initiative established by Congress to commemorate the nation’s Semiquincentennial, encourages citizens to reflect on our common history and help build a better future together. Through its America Gives initiative, the goal is to make 2026 the largest year of volunteer service in U.S. history.

“That spirit of service aligns closely with Redwood’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work,” said Steve Kimmelman, founder and CEO of Redwood.

Through its Volunteer Time Off (VTO) program and Redwood Cares annual giving initiative, employees are empowered to support causes they care about. So far in 2026, Redwood employees have contributed 1,339 volunteer hours through VTO and community service efforts, with a companywide goal of reaching 2,500 volunteer hours by the end of the year in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. Those hours have been spent volunteering in various ways, ranging from food bank support and animal shelter assistance to charity races and outdoor clean-up efforts across Redwood markets.

“Every volunteer project, nonprofit partnership and act of service contributes to a broader mission of creating positive change,” said Kimmelman. “By connecting our volunteer efforts with the goals of America Gives, Redwood employees are helping build stronger communities while honoring the ideals that have defined our nation for 250 years.”

Celebrating America’s Story
As part of Redwood’s America 250 celebration, employees were invited to share personal reflections on how America has influenced their lives, families and communities. These stories help highlight the diverse experiences that contribute to our nation’s ongoing story.

To further commemorate this historic milestone, Redwood also launched special employee engagement opportunities, including a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of three trips to Washington, D.C. and a limited-edition Redwood Freedom for Life hooded sweatshirt. In recognition of the anniversary, every employee is also receiving 2,500 WorkTango recognition points, equivalent to a $25 reward, as a tribute to America’s 250th birthday. These activities encourage employees to commemorate the anniversary while reflecting on the connections between our nation’s history and their own experiences.

The initiatives reflect Redwood’s belief that one of the best ways to honor America’s past is by investing in the people and communities that will carry its legacy forward.

“Through service, community involvement and employee engagement, Redwood is proud to celebrate America 250 while helping build a stronger future for generations to come,” said Kimmelman.
