New Redwood Living, Inc. Headquarters Designed for the Modern Workforce

Independence, Ohio – August 26, 2021 – Today, Redwood Living, Inc. celebrated the official opening of its new corporate headquarters – a space designed for a workforce that has developed a fresh perspective on working in an office setting.

The new headquarters offers the rapidly growing developer and manager of single-story apartment homes a safe and smart opportunity to further incorporate its community and people-centric culture into the organization’s entire workspace.

The 32,000-square-foot office is located at 7007 East Pleasant Valley in Independence, just west of Redwood’s previous location. The building houses Redwood’s many departments, including property operations, acquisitions, development, construction, procurement, accounting, finance, IT, investor relations, human resources, learning and development, culture and marketing.

The renovated building features the most current design standards, including smart conference rooms, wireless Teams connectivity, state-of-the-art HVAC controls and energy efficient lighting. Its HVAC design was created to a high standard relative to clean air circulation, with UVC treatment and outside air exchange.

Additionally, more than $2 million in energy upgrades made to the building include the use of occupancy sensors for lighting and HVAC controls, and the replacement of an original rubber roof with a new white membrane roof.

In response to the pandemic, there were interior modifications made in consideration of the long-term health and well-being of Redwood employees.

“We made several adjustments in light of COVID-19 to create the safest work environment possible,” said John Lateulere, senior vice president of development at Redwood. “We looked at details like door swings and ways we can mitigate the spread of germs, such as the installation of touchless plumbing fixtures.”

Additionally, Redwood staff will continue to work a hybrid schedule, remote and in-person, to ensure safe social distancing, and will adhere to other CDC recommendations regarding PPE and cleaning standards.

The original ADP building was an award-winning structure designed by Fleishman Architecture in 1979. Pride One served as construction manager during the 10-month renovation. Additionally, Redwood partnered with Vocon for architecture and design, while structural, mechanical, and electrical designs were handled by Osborn Engineering. Civil Design was completed by TGC Engineering (now Davey Resource Group).

“With this new headquarters, Redwood solidifies our relationship with the city of Independence, the greater Cleveland region, and our more than 400 employees who provide intelligence, expertise and passion each day,” said Kate Vizmeg, chief people and operations officer at Redwood. “We are incredibly excited about the space we have created and hope that it is an inspiring environment for our employees, who we value so much.”

Redwood’s new workspace offers employees daily reminders of the company culture, celebrating all of its Core Values with unique wall decor. And in three areas of the building, local Cleveland artists were even contracted to create one-of-a-kind murals and wall art. One is a wall mural painted by Ryan Jaenke, depicting the evolution of Redwood’s logo to represent Redwood’s Core Value #2: Be Entrepreneurial. Near the employee entrance, custom glass bubbles can be found as part of the design for the Core Value #8: Be Nice & Have Fun wall—created by the Glass Asylum in Chagrin Falls. The largest piece is a mural by Eileen Dorsey that covers the entire elevator shaft, depicting a Redwood forest done in her signature style.

Redwood owns and manages 13,000+ apartment homes in more than 100 neighborhoods throughout Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Kentucky. Redwood’s signature single-story apartments with attached garages and private entrances are situated in welcoming, green-centric neighborhood settings that provide residents all the comforts of home plus the conveniences of a maintenance-free lifestyle.
